FAQs
48V lithium solar batteries reduce current, decrease cable losses, and operate more efficiently with high-capacity solar inverters (compared to 12V battery banks). A Vatrer 51.2V 100Ah LiFePO4 battery can store approximately 5.12kWh, whereas a 12.8V 100Ah battery can only store about 1.28kWh. This means fewer 48V modules are needed to achieve the same usable capacity, making 48V solar batteries more suitable for home energy storage, solar backup, and off-grid solar systems.
Daily energy consumption ÷ Battery capacity × Backup days = Number of batteries needed.
Since one Vatrer 51.2V 100Ah lithium battery can store approximately 5.12 kWh, a system that uses 10 kWh per day would require about two batteries for one day of backup and four batteries for two days. If you plan to use high-power appliances such as refrigerators, well pumps, microwaves, or air conditioners on cloudy days, please add extra capacity to be safe.
Vatrer 48V LiFePO4 solar batteries can work with lithium-compatible inverters, provided the charge voltage, float voltage, and low voltage cut-off are set correctly. This includes inverters such as Victron, Growatt, EG4, and Sol-Ark. It's particularly suitable if CAN or RS485 communication is supported. Closed-loop communication depends on the inverter's protocol and the specific model of the Vatrer battery.
Vatrer 48V lithium solar batteries can be expanded in parallel, provided you use the same battery model, voltage, capacity, and BMS specifications. Each 51.2V 100Ah module adds approximately 5.12kWh of storage capacity, meaning four 48V 100Ah batteries will provide about 20.48kWh, and up to 10 units can be connected in parallel, expanding the capacity to 51.20kWh. This configuration is suitable for starting a solar battery backup system on a small scale and later requiring more capacity.
Vatrer 48V LiFePO4 batteries use a built-in BMS to protect against overcharging, over-discharging, overcurrent, short-circuiting, high temperatures, and low temperatures. Low-temperature protection stops charging below 32°F and stops discharging below -4°F to protect the cells. Certain 48V models also feature a self-heating function, which activates below 32°F and deactivates at 41°F before charging resumes.
Vatrer 48V lithium solar batteries cannot be charged below 32°F when low-temperature protection is active. The BMS will stop charging to protect the LiFePO4 cells. If the battery has a self-heating function, it can start heating below 32°F and resume charging after the internal temperature reaches approximately 41°F. If there is no self-heating function, please move the battery indoors, to an insulated, or temperature-controlled location before charging in winter.
Vatrer 48V solar batteries may stop charging before 100% if one cell group reaches the BMS overvoltage threshold, or if the inverter charge voltage is set too high. With 51.2V LiFePO4 batteries, using an inverter profile that is Li-compatible can mitigate frequent cutoffs by the BMS during absorption charging. You can check the pack voltage, current, battery status, and protection alerts by monitoring the display or the Vatrer app.
Vatrer 48V LiFePO4 solar batteries can achieve over 4,000 cycles when used within appropriate voltage, current, and temperature ranges. They support an 80%-100% depth of discharge and typically provide an 8-10 year service life in solar energy storage applications. Battery life can be further extended by avoiding charging below 32°F without self-heating functionality and ensuring that inverter settings match LiFePO4 parameters to prevent frequent BMS cutoffs due to overvoltage.
